Proteintech are delighted to host Dr Erika Fernández-Vizzara in our online webinar series. Erika will be presenting data from her recent Cell Metabolism paper, "Two independent respiratory chains adapt OXPHOS performance to glycolytic switch" mostly completed while at the MRC-Mitochondrial Biology Unit, University of Cambridge, in collaboration with Dr Cristina Ugalde's laboratory in Madrid, Spain.

This event is now complete. To watch a recording of the webinar, follow the link below.

Meet the expert: Dr Erika Fernández-Vizarra
Talk title: "Metabolic adaptions of OXPHOS organization and function to glycolytic switch."

Talk description: "The structural and functional organization of the mitochondrial respiratory chain (MRC) remains intensely debated. In this talk we will demonstrate the co-existence of two separate MRC organizations in human cells and postmitotic tissues. We show a link between the metabolic signatures converging at the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex and the structural and functional organization of the MRC, challenging the widespread notion of the MRC as a single functional unit and concluding that its structural heterogeneity warrants optimal adaptation to metabolic function."
